It all started with a »beep«: On the 26th of June 1974, an employee at Marsh Supermarket in Troy, Ohio, in the United States, pulled a pack of Wrigley's chewing gum, which had a UPC barcode on it, over the scanning window of a Datalogic Model A barcode scanner. Datalogic made history with this: The beep that the Datalogic barcode scanner produced at that time confirmed the very first commercial barcode scan and heralded the beginning of the automatic data capture industry.

Green Spot

Datalogic's »Green Spot« technology confirms the successful capture of a barcode with a clearly visible green dot. Additionally, the successful scan may be confirmed by an adjustable signal tone.

3GL (3 Green Lights)

The patented Datalogic 3GL (3 Green Light) technology provides optimal feedback on successful scans through two LEDs on the device and a highly visible green light spot directly on the barcode. Additional acoustic feedback may be set via a beeper.

Motionix

Datalogic's advanced Motionix motion detection technology ensures that the scanners quickly detect whether the user wants to scan an item in manual read mode or presentation mode. Motionix automatically switches the scanner to the desired mode, which is convenient and saves time throughout the day.

DRA

»DRA« stands for »Disinfectant Ready Antimicrobial«. Datalogic handheld scanners with DRA housing have a disinfectant-resistant plastic housing that is easily cleaned with strong disinfectants. Antimicrobial additives, so-called silver ion additives, have been added to the housing. They inhibit the growth of microorganisms, such as germs and bacteria on the surface of the scanners, and thus reduce its spreading.

Inductive charging

Some Datalogic handheld scanners are available with an inductive charging function. These handheld scanners do not have charging contacts – this makes them more robust, since it makes the scanners less susceptible to dirt and therefore less likely to need cleaning. 

Star cordless narrow-band radio system

Many Datalogic handheld scanners are available with Datalogic's STAR cordless system. This technology transmits data via narrow-band radio communication. Datalogic scanners with the Star cordless radio system offer great mobility, excellent data security and low power consumption. Its range is up to 50 metres and may be extended via a network, if required. The Datalogic STAR cordless system is excellent for transmitting limited amounts of data (for example, codes of up to 100 characters).
